Weight loss and healthy eating trends change with time to time, which is why you have to avoid some of the trends that were on the top some years back.
For a better-shaped body and weight loss, there are about 8 top trends you need to try this year.
1. Eating for Gut Health
According to Kelly Kennedy, RD this diet is termed as “Lose your belly fat Diet” which is on the hottest trends of 2017.
This diet follows the lead of the gut friendly bacteria and by improving their health. This can be achieved by altering the diets, taking probiotic supplementation and with other lifestyle changes.
Kennedy further explained that the chances of the gut problem are increasing day by day because of the poor eating habits which ultimately damages the health of your gut and put your digestive system into danger.
Taking food which improves the health of these “Good Bacteria” can improve your overall health.
Examples of these foods are fermented Yogurt and sauerkraut. Another commonly known sources which are rich in probiotics are bananas, onions, and asparagus.
2. The MIND Diet
The MIND diet is basically a combination of two diets which claims to be as heart-healthy ones.
- The Mediterranean Diet
- Dietary Approaches to Stop Hypertension
Neuro-degeneration is the most common condition spreading around people these days which is why the MIND Diet is especially focused on the brain’s health.
In this diet, eating nuts, fish, leafy green vegetables, seeds, olive oil is preferred which are proven source to improve cognitive skills of an individual.
The MIND diet does not include a strict set of rules but is a balanced diet with a healthy proportion of every nutrient available.
One of the great things about the MIND Diet is that it deals with the real foods instead of pushing you to buy specialty items.
3. Fermented Foods
Fermented foods are demanding because of their excellent effects on the gut health.
Not every Fermented food is known to lose weight except fermented kimchi which is linked to weight loss.
Fermented food should be included as a part of your healthy diet, they are the greatest source of probiotics which protect the good bacteria in the gut and maintain the immune system, improves digestion and even good for brain health.
Fermented foods are not enough alone, Kennedy says, it is important to introduce diets rich in fiber to improve the good bacteria’s health.
4. Fitness Classes for the Commonalities
Fitness classes weren’t in a trend until 2016 where it gained massive popularity.
“I think classes are going to be a big hit in 2017 because the industry is realizing that people don’t have the time or the [disposable income] to work with a personal trainer,” says Los Angeles-based celebrity fitness coach, Andrea Orbeck.
High ends classes can boost a confident of an individual about how he/she is progressing health wise, plus it won’t let you work out alone.
In fitness classes, you get guidance from your trainer and there are more companionship and accountability which further accelerate your excitement.
5. Online Classes
One of the growing trends is the use of technology from your house and train a couple of peoples through Skype and other online messaging apps which include video conferencing.
Orbeck says these tactics are getting highly demanding because of the ease user will have.
The convenient make your workout easier and exciting. Now you trainer lives in England and you reside in New York, Well that’s not going to be a problem anymore!
6. Corporate Exercise
It’s not so much old trend, but some companies are really opening gym to the workplace.
Moreover, they are redesigning the entire place by adding Physio balls, fitness classes, standing and walking desks which enable them to keep their physical health in check.
It motivates the workers more to sit less which is so much essential for weight loss.
7. Urban Fitness
People are now changing the way they used to work out or train before, using an urban environment to change things up is really working for some people, says Orbeck.
She further predicted that there will be more urban settings this year to work out as a boot camp style like Lisa Druxman’s Stroller Stride workouts.
Young mothers who cannot leave their babies alone now doing terrain environment workout at the park with their babies.

According to the survey conducted by the American College of Sports Medicine’s fitness devices like smart watches and sophisticated wearable technology, ranked at number one amongst top 20 worldwide fitness trends for 2017.
These devices can track your steps, sleep cycles, heart and other activities performed.
This is a world of modern techs and gadgets, a lot of people love these things and it helps them achieve their fitness goals.
According to Avigdor Dori Arad, RD the wearable devices cannot replace a healthy diet and exercise plan. They should be used in addition not instead of.
4 Health Trends to Avoid this year
1. The Sirtfood Diet
This diet is all about stimulating the spiritual pathways which are considered as an essential element in boosting metabolism and losing weight.
Foods like coffee, dark chocolate, kale and red wine have a high number of polyphenols. The maker of this diet named him Sirtfood because this diet affects same as when a person is fasting.
Kennedy says that this diet is more restrictive than she imagined. The diet also focuses on the lean protein, vegetables, and whole grains so you can pick up the essential vitamins and minerals which your body needs on a daily basis.
This diet is of the 3 week period in which most of the people have successfully lost their weight.
Kennedy further added that diet plans like this are better than the diet plans which runs for a year and gives you the same results as this.
2. Nut Milks
Nut milk extracted from hazelnuts, almonds, and cashew are becoming extremely popular. It is not only for people who are lactose intolerant, but it aids in a weight loss process.
Nut milk are special because they are lower in calories than the other dairy milk.
According to Kennedy Nut Milk is the best source when it comes to nutrition, but when you compare it from the cow milk, it surely is inferior in nutritional aspects.
Kennedy gave an example about skim milk, which contains 8 grams of protein per serving where milk possesses only 1 gram nut.
She advised ““The next time you’re in the dairy aisle,” says Kennedy, “opt for cow’s milk, or soy milk, if you’re dairy-free.”
This diet consist of drinking juices, but mainly soups. It was a big weight loss trend last year, but some people seem to go against it recently.
Some people think souping is a healthy diet, which is too beneficial for the weight loss, but most people in it are likely to miss out the key nutrients like fibers and proteins.
Levinson says, for some people buying designer soup is either expensive or making soup is time-consuming which makes it unmanageable for some.
Soup can be a healthy part of your diet, but it shouldn’t be the only thing.
4. Coconut Oil
Coconut became one of the most used trends in diets, coconut water, coconut milk, coconut ice cream and coconut oil have been used in many diet plans in 2016.
The reason why coconut edibles were on too much hype because of the friendly fat content which is why for most people it is becoming a kitchen staple.
Some people believe that coconut oil contains saturated fats, which gets metabolized faster and leads to less fat cell production which is true in some cases.
Dr. Levinson added in his argument that “Saturated fat is still scientifically linked to heart disease, and there’s not enough research showing that we should be using coconut oil in place of healthy unsaturated fats like olive oil or avocado oil.”
